Ascent Trip ReportFollowed the driving directions provided by surgent and mstender on SummitPost.org http://www.summitpost.org/saddle-mountain-tonopah-az/938967 . My driving notes are as follows:
0.0 Driving West on I-10 from Phoenix, take Exit 94 (441 Avenue).
3.0 Turn Right onto Salome Highway.
8.4 TL onto Courthouse Road at a Y.
9.1 TL onto unmarked BLM 8211 (there is a kiosk here).
10.1 Cross BLM 8212
10.2 Park at a parking/dispersed camping area.
My only additions to the SummitPost route description are:
(1) The trail starts just beyond a gully to the SE of the parking area and heads East.
(2) Soon turn right at a cairn onto a faint climbers trail heading directly towards Saddle Mountain. If you miss this first junction and continue east, you will find another junction marked by a T shaped rock pattern with a faint trail lined with small rocks heading towards the mountain. The climbers trail becomes more obvious as it leads up to a notch below the upper east face of Saddle Mountain.
