Ascent Trip ReportSolo. Class 2+ if you choose your path carefully on the south end, up from the saddle and the jeep road. Under an hour up. I came in the Fanfair Ivanpah Hart Mine roads. Ridiculous. Dumb...
From Goffs I went 29 miles to Hart Mine Road, then 9.5 miles eastward, with a major washout at mile 6.0. At 9.5 you reach a nice gravel bladed road called NN 155 / NN 149. From here right (S) 0.8 to NN 142, then as far as you wish towards the pass S of Hart Pk.
On the way out, I simply stayed on the gravel road northeastward. I didn't take mileage notes, but maybe 10-15 miles to pavement, past a federal site at a ranch that was temporarily closed. From this paved road, right (E) about 10 miles to hwy 95.
Come from the east from Box Walker Ranch road. Sweet. Took me 2:15 to get there from Needles via awful roads from the west. Only took a little over an hour to get back to Needles via US95 to the east.
Last register entry in April 2017. Original register still there. Cool peak. A higher one is several miles southwest along the crest of the small range, but is outside of the Nat Mon due to it being part of the mine inholding.
