Ascent Trip Report

Hiked from Blue Ridge Parkway on the AT and made the brief trip over to the summit from the trail (it's too open to call it a bushwhack). Beautiful clear day with no wind, temps a few degrees above freezing. Trail was leaf-covered in places but never hard to follow. This is another of several peaks in this area that the AT crosses passing near the summit, but not actually over the summit. Anyone claiming this summit should hike off trail far enough to reach the actual summit in my opinion; by just hiking past on the AT you are not actually reaching the top of the mountain (the USGS map shows the slight detour accurately).
