Ascent Trip ReportFun ascent of Gower. As previously noted when you reach the top of the first peak, this is False Gower. There's a register there and everything but it's not the true peak. We pushed on, following GPS tracks of previous hikers.
After False Gower, the trail disappears entirely and becomes a fairly dense bushwhack. It's certainly doable but was thicker than I'd expected based on previous trip reports. I would recommend long pants for this one. No register found at the true summit, only a couple of cairns. Nice views of the Cuyamacas, Viejas, El Capitan Reservoir/El Cajon Mtn, and the San Diego River Valley. Have fun!
