Ascent Trip Report

Drove down Highway 155 out of Lake Isabella to Greenhorn Summit and then turned right down dirt road 24S15. At the 1.2 mile point on this road, turned left onto dirt road 23S16, parking near the turnoff for Camp Mountain Meadows. The area still has lots of burn damage from a recent fire.

Followed the well maintained trail to the summit. Past the saddle at 7680' there were patches of snow along the trail. The snow helped to cover up some of the burn damage, but still a very sad sight. Once on the summit, we found an empty box with no register or pencil. We left a sheet of paper to be used as a register, but lacked anything to write with. As we prepared to head down, Peakbagger Dean appeared at the summit, lending us a pen to properly register. Small world when multiple peakbagger fanatics brave the winter weather and cross paths on a summit.

We descended along the same trail, leaving Peakbagger Dean atop the mountain for him to enjoy the view we left behind.
