Ascent Trip Report

Finished the Tongue Range on Saturday. Picked up Fifth Peak which we had skipped last week and did the required Fifth, French, and First Peak. Darlene and Erik came from Utica again with their friend Tom. Maryellen, Tina, and I rode together so we could pick up Fifth Peak and meet the others along the way. This hike actually took us from Fifth, to fourth, third, and second as well before reaching the other 12ster summits. We then bushwhacked down to the lake from First Peak and met the trail at the base to hike out. It was a fun bushwhack, but I would never do it in the summer when the snakes are out! The hike out, although pretty, felt super long. This was a tougher day that I had imagined. I am not in summer shape, but I think it was a lot of up down up down over the 10.5 miles. Took us about 8 hours.
