Ascent Trip Report

Snatched up this high-point on the way home from the cabin as it is just off of 169. Parked at the old ski chalet (now apartments) and started from there. There was some snow on the ground, but it varied depending on the amount of shade and the slope grade. Started up under the old ski lift and used google maps to find the rise of the mountain. Ran up alpine ski runs and down a CC ski trail to get to the base and scrambled up. Picnic table and grill at the top with views of Siseebakwet lake and Grand Rapids. After getting coordinates headed down at a must faster pace with snow to break steps, and saw a deer and flushed a grouse. I did this in November so bushwacking was not much of a problem since much of the vegetation was dead. Overall this is a rewarding MN county high point.
