Ascent Trip ReportI did the "long" approach by walking from my hotel down El Dorado avenue. Total distance was ~12k. El Dorado isn't a great street for walking (sketchy intersections, thin sidewalks, homeless), and be mindful of the rough neighborhoods near the last kilometer approaching the trailhead.
The actual hike is full of police on their cell phones. They make up for their lack of attention with numbers.
I didn't jump any fences on the upper plateau- after reading some other trip reports on peakbagger, I think I climbed the Google Maps location of the summit (for tourists) at the monastary, but perhaps not the true summit. I went back the next day and tagged the summit.
