Ascent Trip ReportAfter Moapa, we ate dinner at the TH and then began the hour drive out to I-15 in our big camper. We went 12 more miles east on I-15 and turned off on the south side to go to the Virgin Peak TH. It's a long way and took over another hour and a half to get to the corral. Some vehicles go past this point but we didn't want to chance not being able to turn around. It's a straight forward hike, going up the canyon until there is an ascendable ridge coming down from the left (prior to this there are cliffs). Climbed this ridge to the summit ridge, then it was just a ridge walk through lots of rock, brush, and trees (bushwhack) to the summit. Returned the same way, ending in the dark because the days are so short. |
