Ascent Trip ReportParked at De Anza Springs Resort for $5. It's a clothing optional resort, so be prepared.
There's a lot of open questions online about the legalities of hiking on the train tracks, but the staff at the resort told us it was totally fine and that people do it all the time. They directed us straight to the trailhead.
We hiked for 6 miles on the train tracks across multiple trestles, and through multiple tunnels, some long enough that you can't see your hand in front of your face in the middle of the day. We were glad we brought headlamps. After crossing the Goat Canyon Trestle, we walked through one last tunnel (the sketchiest so far with significant rockfall - we walked around it on the way back), and then headed up to Puff which was easily viewable from the tracks.
Long hike @15 miles, but it was pretty flat/gradual incline for the entirety up until the summit push (500 ft elevation to get the summit).
