Ascent Trip ReportDrove from MS highpoint and stayed the night at a rest stop an hour from highpoint on I-40 west of Little Rock. Got there at 8:30 pm. Woke up at 5:45, drove to the state park and parked at the entrance of a campground across the street from the trailhead. waited 15 minutes for it to get light and headed up the trail at 7am. Took the Signal Hill Trail up .4 miles. Saw a large buck (8 point maybe) at the summit tending a doe. On way back down the mountain on the loop the buck was standing broadside in the middle of the trail 20 yards away. Nice walk up and down. 1.4 miles total. Cool area. Nice views driving out of the park. #32 |
