Ascent Trip ReportWe helicoptered in to Brohm Ridge, just outside the park boundary, then headed up the ridge, over the Shark's Tooth and up to the edge of the glacier. We set up camp then spent the day enjoying some skills training with Canada West Mountain School owner/guide Brian Jones. Rapelling into a bottomless crevasse to practice ice-climbing out was the highlight.
We were up at 3:45 a.m. and headed onto the glacier under the stars. Things warmed up considerably when the sun rose, but the snow held it's consistency enough to allow us to kick steps up 50 degree snow. The bergshrund was interesting and there was some exposure above a gaping crevasse on the steep pitch, but we anchored and belayed for safety and practiced our steep snow work. The view from the top was spectacular. We were down to break camp and head back to the LZ for the chopper by early aftrnoon.
Another great trip with CWMS and Brian Jones.
