I'm not sure why people make a big deal out of Lone, it was pretty easy. Hiking along the Fisherman's Path was interesting as we had to keep crossing back and forth over the Neversink, but the water level was fairly low (it is October after all) and it was just some easy rock hopping. Then once we started going up I kept waiting for the really challenging part, but I never found it. I'd do Lone again no questions asked. In fact, this may be one of my favorite hikes. I really love the solitude!

The hike from Lone to Rocky was a bit more interesting, the brush and balsams were really thick at some spots; the thickest I've ever been in for about 10 minutes or so. But again, nothing bad, just some thick spots that didn't last that long. Coming down Rocky we followed, I think, the Donovan Brook -- the rocks were extremely slippery, every single one of them! I slipped a bunch of times, but never fell thanks to my hiking poles.

Hiking back along the East Branch Neversink River seemed to take forever. At one point, Richard said they should rename it the "Never-End River." Our goal was to make it back to the maintained trail with trail markers by sunset, and we were pretty much spot on. Minutes after finding the first blue trail marker we stopped to put on our headlamps. It's been quite a while since we've hiked out after sunset. I really like night hiking :)
