Ascent Trip Report

A decent amount of snow between 10500 and 11200 feet. Once I made the ridge at Thunder Pass I virtually walked out of the snow. The views of American Lakes and the surrounding peaks were outstanding. The wind was off and on, a huge gust blew one of my gloves out of my hand and over the edge while on the Lulu summit. I had to drop down about 200 feet to retrieve it and then just made my way over toward Thunder. The lateral traverse of the snow field was a little challenging. Once I made the summit it was easy to see a much easier route down than trying to backtrack to the pass. If you want a more direct route just for Thunder follow my route down. One steep section just as you leave the trail but it's short, maybe a quarter mile.

Also, $7 park fee at the trailhead so bring cash.
