Ascent Trip Report

I had to be in Fort Lewis for a work conference today, so Becca and I discussed options. With the earlier sunsets we had to rule out going for some MRNP 100 peaks near Mowich, but Becca found this diamond in the rough! So, she met me at the base and we headed out as soon as my conference was over. There was not much traffic, so the drive was smooth. There is a large parking lot as this is a county park. There are a few trail options to the top. All but the main gravel road are quite nice. All of the locals seem to use this for an after work stroll but it was not crowded. The views of Mt Rainier were amazing from a lookout spot just below the summit at the end of my track below the summit. We took different trails back for an overall excellent day out in the foothills of Mt Rainier! Becca couldn’t have picked a more perfect after work hike that was accessible, close, in the woods, and had stunning views to enjoy on this perfectly clear day! Pics
