Ascent Trip ReportClimbed Balsam at my turn-around point on the Pine Hill-West Branch Trail. Not to be confused with Balsam Cap or Balsam Lake Mountain, both in the same mountain range. The Catskill peak namers love their Balsams I guess. Easy trail to follow. No views from the top, though there are a bunch of herd paths to nowhere. It was a really foggy day, so maybe one of them actually leads to a view. Had some lunch and then headed back over Haynes and Eagle. Extra elevation is from re-ascents of Haynes & Eagle.
Back up and over Haynes & Eagle on my way from Balsam to the Seager trailhead. I had a full pack on the whole way for conditioning. Passed the lean-to where I spent the night on my way out. Didn't see a single person the whole day. Perfect weather too. Cool enough for a fleece and light gloves but not cold at all. The stream below the lean-to was easier to cross today versus yesterday.
