|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Motorized Transport to Trailhead:||4x4 Vehicle|
| Elevation:||12123 ft / 3695 m|
Ascent Trip ReportHiked in from Monache Meadows -- VERY SEVERE 4WD ROAD into TH from 395 /Nine Mile Rd/ Kennedy Meadows. Three hours from 395. I made it OK driving a Jeep Overland with pneumatic lift (raises chassis for 4 inches additional clearance). Without additional clearance and 4WD low, I would not have make it. Worse conditions coming out due to uphill at rough spots. VERY CAPABLE 4WD VEHICLE REQUIRED.
The advantage of this route is a shorter hike vs Sage Flat. 14 to 15 miles RT and approx 2500 feet less gain. Easier to do in a day but still long due to drive time.
The attached trak shows the drive in (partial), but starting at 9 Mile Canyon Road to Kennedy Meadows. Hiking Starts at "Corrals" just past "MONCH3"
