Ascent Trip Report

If in the area (Quito) and want a nice, low effort hike with some good class 2 exposure toward the top, this hike is it. To make this as easy and FUN as possible, we took the teleferiqo (cable lift) up, then hiked a small bit to a stable offering horseback rides to the base of the peak where it starts to turn to rock. We then scrambled up the remaining distance, 1-2 hours for an easy summit. The highlight was the horseback ride, so don't see this as a copout! If I recall correctly it was ~25-30 for two people on two horses, and I didn't feel the need or want to haggle lower though I'm sure you could.

Descent hike back to top of cable car, sans horses.
