Ascent Trip Report

FR 090 up North Oak Brush Canyon is an excellent road as of September 2017. I'm not sure if it was recently worked on or not, but it was level and fairly clear of boulders and other obstacles. It was a very easy, comfortable drive up to 8100 feet. I could have kept going but I found a nice shady spot to park the car. I only parked about a tenth of a mile from where the road ends. There are more rocks on the switchbacks leading up to the end of the road. Anyway, it is a great road. From there I went cross country to gain the ridge, and I headed over to Black Crook. There is a little up and down involved, but it isn't too bad. The scrambling isn't bad. It's pretty fun. The views are fantastic. It was a wonderfully clear day. A bit windy. I could see for miles in every direction. It's nice not having the smoke lingering around anymore.
