Ascent Trip ReportDrove down Lake Hughes Road from I-5 until junction with Pine Canyon Road (N2) then turned west 4.7 miles to Bushnell Summit to junction with 7N23. Turnoff was not marked. Forest road 7N23 was rough in spots and may not be passable in standard 2WD sedan. After 3.2 miles on 7N23, parked at junction with 7N08. Hiked down 7N08 until reaching firebreak on east side of Peak 6482 and climbed up firebreak to that summit. Returned back to 7N08 to firebreak leading toward Sawtooth Mountain. Firebreak was not clearly visibly on road, so be careful. Once on the correct firebreak followed it along some bumps and saddles to the base of Sawtooth, where a long steep firebreak leads the way to the summit. The register was near the west end of the summit mound. Signed the register and returned using the same trail. |
