Ascent Trip ReportIt sounded like my car couldn't handle the Sims Creek Road, so I climbed via the north ridge and Allen Peak Trail #466. A large sign on the Silver Butte Road indicated the trailhead, and from the sign I wove down a short two-track to the Fisher River and parked. The trail traveled east and forded easily, then climbed the peak in a steep and unmaintained fashion, often intersecting NF 2361, which seemed navigable and well-graded but was closed at its beginning due to "fire activity". I'm not sure if it's typically gated or not; it leads to a repeater facility only 500 vertical feet from the summit. If it's open, that's the easiest way to climb this peak. If closed, well, the hike is pretty easy and the upper section enjoyable.
