Ascent Trip ReportDespite what you may read online, Mount Bonnell (785 feet) not the highest point in the city of Austin. It is not even the summit of its bluff--you can drive up to 843 feet at 3409 Mountaintop Circle (Mount Barker) and 860 at 4604 Ridge Oak Drive (unnamed ridge that used to be the town water reservoir).
Set your GPS for Covert Park at Mount Bonnell, climb the stairs, and follow the Ridge north for fine views of the Colorado River valley.
