Ascent of Catamount Hill on 2017-07-12
|Date:||Wednesday, July 12, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||USA-New Hampshire|
| Elevation:||721 ft / 219 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI made a short loop over Bear Brook SP's Catamount Hill starting from Catamount Pond, the park's sadly disgusting swimming hole. I walked up the road to the toll booth, where I found the start of the One Mile Trail, a dirt road/snowmobile trail. The Catamount Trail begins after half a mile. It is a well-built trail which crosses over some nice ledges on the way to the top. There are two viewpoints, neither of which is worthwhile at all, although the first one has some interesting rock crevasses. The summit is reached by a somewhat obscure spur path and has no views. I took the loop descent, which was unexciting as well.
