Ascent Trip ReportI drove up to Frenchman Lake from Truckee early in the morning. Following Matthew Hengst's fantastic gps track, I got to within a couple miles of the peak. If you're driving a high clearance 4x4 or SUV (like a Forester) you can get to within about 1 mile of the summit (see Dean Gaudet's trip report. He started the hike as close to the peak as possible using this general route). I don't recommend using this route with a lower clearance vehicle as the trickiest parts are at the bottom. There is no consistent road or trail towards the summit, but the GPS track is fairly easy to follow. There are a lot of trip reports that mention that this hike was a tough bushwhack. There's no bushwhacking necessary if you take the trail/route all the way to the saddle between Adams Peak and Peak 8120 and then walk around to the saddle between the east and west peaks of Adams Peak. You have to duck through some trees for about 25 feet right at the top of the west summit, but that's it. The views from the summit were fantastic.
