Ascent Trip Report

Eclipse day peak bagging!

We parked at the west summit by the giant grey "laser soccer ball" as my kids called it and hiked over to the highpoint to watch the solar eclipse. It was the perfect place for eclipse watching, there was only one other party at the highpoint. The temperature was about 75 degrees when the eclipse started but dropped into the 40s at totality, we were freezing!

We stopped and tagged Granite Peak on the way down before hiking down to Blue Lake. A very good day spent in the Idaho mountains. It was worth the drive, even though it took us 4 hours to get back to Boise.
