Ascent of Grand Teton on 2017-08-18
|Date:||Friday, August 18, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||13770 ft / 4197 m|
Ascent Trip ReportMy party left the moraine around 3:15AM, and we were among the first to reach the belly roll on the OS route. There was still ice in many of the cracks and in shaded areas from the previous week's snowfall that made footing treacherous on the Owen and Sargent chimneys. That section is usually fairly simple, but due to the ice a member of our party lost footing and fell just after setting a protection cam. Fortunately the protection held and the fall was short. We arrived on the summit before 8:30AM, and we were back at the Lupine Meadows parking lot by 3pm. Overall it was a great climb!
