Ascent Trip Report This was a private hike with George Christiansen and John Radalj. We were doing 2 HPS peak and one Peakbagger. The first peak was Arctic. We followed the HPS Peak Guide driving instructions. The roads are pretty confusing in this area so you need to pay close attention. We stopped just before a point that was going to require a good 4WD to continue. We then walked along the road about 2/10th mile to a point just past a shallow gully. We followed this gully to a point where we begin to pick up a well ducked route to the summit. From the road we were basically following a NE direction to the summit. We lost the ducks a couple of times, but picked them up again. On the summit we found a register, no benchmark.
Next, was Constance. We drove back to SR 38 down to Angelus Oak. We again followed the peak guide driving instructions going about 1.4 miles to a saddle due north to the peak. Here we parked and followed the ridge in a south direction to the summit. On the summit we found a register and a benchmark.
Next was the Peakbagger bump, Mountain Home Peak. We continued on the road about 3 ¼ miles to wide point in the road and parked. There is an obvious firebreak up to a bump, then down to a saddle. There was a fairly good use trail to the saddle. From that point on it started getting bushy and difficult to follow. About the last 300 yards was a real bushwack, pushing through buckthorn and Manzanita. We finally made it to the summit where we found a register. There were only a few signatures.
Other than the heat, it was a great hike day.
