Ascent Trip Report

Travel 2.14 miles up Mountain road from its junction with ME-11. Here you will find a junction with a grassy pull off immediately to the right. Park your vehicle here. Mountain road is in fairly poor shape, we drove it in a pickup truck, however I am completely confident my 2005 Offroad Corolla could have made it all the way in had I been driving it at the time.

Now, there are a number of ruins at this grassy pull off including confusing signs, one of which sits atop a deteriorating picnic table and points southward with an arrow saying "summit". This is not accurate. Instead you want to follow the old road westward past an apple tree. This is no more than 30 yards from the parking spot. There is an additional sign which has lost whatever directions it had stapled to it just past the apple tree. Turn right here and follow the old road. Stick to the most traveled portion of the road and you'll reach the ruins of the old firewarden's cabin. another 700' and you'll be at the summit.
