Ascent Trip Report

Un-guided trip up DC route. Started at Paradise, hiked up to Muir where we spent the night. Ascended to Ingraham the next day late morning, about two hours up. Spent the night at Ingraham flats. A lot of the guided teams were leaving at 11pm for the summit as the crevasses necessitated a lot longer route this year including a 300ft descent and traversing over to meet up with the emmons route. I heard 2 hours longer than normal DC route from some guides. We left for summit at 2am. Got to summit around 9am, stayed for 30-40 min and started the descent. It became crazy warm and crevasses were opening up. One that was 1.5 feet wide on the way up over 3 feet wide on the way down, no ladder, had to jump. Set anchors for another team's jump. Exhausted and out of water back at the tent so stayed one more night at the flats and descended the next morning! Great weather! Lots of smoke down low from oregon fires but beautiful from above
