Ascent Trip Report

At 8:45 I was starting Goodman Mountain. Just a short car ride, no ones in the parking area and in an effort to avoid the worst of the mosquitoes, I was ready to walk quickly as the car door closed. This 1.6 mile climb was to be the easiest. At 9:31 I reached the summit. My Glutes were aching after three days of this but I was happy to be completing everything I had planned.
Taking a break and snapping pictures. Coney had been more stressful, half of this hike was basically a paved trail. Getting several summit readings 2193', 1.37 miles.
On the trail down I met several hikers. When leaving the summit I was greeted by two women and three children (one 6-7 year old boy with a small pack and two younger 4-6 year old girls). I complimented the women for get out and hiking with the kids and in return one of them told me they had climbed Whiteface the day before. I didn't ask for details and don't know if it was just them (5) but I was very impressed.
At 10:27 I was back at the car 1545' 2.73 miles. 1424'-2201'elevation reading of GPS.
Leaving the trail-head and heading (driving) South my next stop would be Long Lake and a chance to hit the public beach there and clean-up for the trip home. No bathhouse but I was able to change in the car. Take a swim and then get into clean clothes.(No details of that process provided) I also took the opportunity to eat the second half of my overly pungent Italian Sub. Chewing the last bites as I wandered down to a general store to look at the inventory. I ended up buying a 5' roasting stick for Chris and a package of fire starters that had (in my view) been hanging there for a long time. At 12:07 I left Long Lake (reluctantly). Having enjoyed the adventure and ready for the long drive home. My only stop was at a park in Utica to use the facilities, and then, meeting Chris at her parents house for a Phil's Chicken House supper. Arriving there between 4:30 and 5:00 PM.
