Ascent Trip Report

First solo 4000er, climbed from V.Emanuelle Hut (20 euros). Started at 0330, route fairly standard and well walked, no problems with route finding. Crampons needed at glacier and to summit. Poor visibility and strong winds meant many people failed to summit on the day I was there. Did not see any of the walk due to the fog, but had time to pose with the Madonna on the summit. Returned to the car park in Pont, total distance 15km, 9.5 hours. The way from the car park to the refuge is well marked. This mountain was the perfect preparation for Mont Blanc, as it is quite high but with a representative route.
