Ascent Trip ReportClimbed the peak in late August, 2009. The weather was warm and sunny, simply excellent. The 8.6-mile trail is quite easy to follow, and in fact takes you over Fifth Peak (1,813 ft.) as well on the way to French Point Mountain. This area is known for rattlesnakes, so keep an eye out for them, though we did not see any on that day. Though not the tallest mountain in the Lake George region, French Point Mountain offers what I believe to be the best view of Lake George of any peak in the area. You can easily see 14 miles or so of the 32-mile-long Lake George, from Lake George Village on the south end all the way up to Huletts Landing on the eastern shore.
