Ascent Trip Report

My Thursday hikiing club does The Knob almost every year. The first two miles incude several stream crossings, some rocky footing but gradual elevation gain (about 750 feet in 2 Mi.) There's an intersection (go left) at 1.5 mi. Ater a little over 2 mi., a mile long steep stretch (about 850 ft. gain) gets you to a meadow, a gate, and another left turn with about another 300 feet elevation gain gets you to meadow with a view on the east flank. Most people stop here for lunch before going down. Gary and I (and Wylie the dog) went up to the top--a short bushwhack through the woods and a slog up a short but very steep grassy slope. Great views--well worth the short extra climb from the meadow--I always wonder why more of my comrades don't do it.
