Ascent Trip Report

I'd been staring at Ranger Peak ever since living in Colter Bay in 2014. Kari had a patrol up in Moose Basin on Friday, so we seized the chance to stay up at Moose Basin cabin for a couple of nights and make the climb on Saturday. It was really gratifying getting to top out on the summit after looking at it for all these summers. Excellent views coupled with enjoyable alpine ridge walking made for an excellent outing. Doane Peak similarly provided some of the best views in the entire north country. Kari was content napping on the summit of Doane while I went over to Ranger, where I was accompanied by Zane and Kevin. A perfect mountain climbing crew! Could not have asked for a better weekend in the mountains with better people or better weather. Moose Basin weekends are always a special opportunity to get out to a truly wild, remote, and serene environment, and I'm always grateful for my time spent anywhere in the area.
