Ascent Trip ReportI was eager to get to Crowsnest Lookout (it may also be Crows Nest) as it was in the vicinity of Apollo Bay where we were staying. I wasn't quite sure though if there would be the sea views the name suggested, but I decided it was worth driving up anyway. The dirt road up was very scenic as it passed through mixed farmland and patches of woodland, and there were intermittent sea views. The best view of all was about three-quarters of the way up, at around 250 metres altitude, with the ocean and the town in full view. The road terminated just a few metres short of the summit, which was located underneath a cluster of pines. It was fenced private property, so there wasn't an opportunity to stand on the very highest ground, but I considered I was close enough. There weren't really any views from the road, but we enjoyed them on the way back down.
