Ascent Trip ReportMy pain is your gain. Instead of taking the trail to the peak, I looked on Google Earth and thought it looked pretty easy going from the cul de sac at the end of Birch Ridge Road. Let me tell you, the pic on Google Earth is OLD! The open field and dirt road that you see is very overgrown now, and you have to cross a swamp and small stream to get to the hill. If you are a sadist and really want to go this way, when you get to the grassy barrow looking mound, keep going west, this will put you on a blue blazed trail. Where it goes, I am not sure, because I only found it on the way back to the car. When you get to the hill, you have to bushwack through briars and stickers. Millions of them. Don't go this route! Couldn't find a cairn on the top, but went back and forth on the ridge checking each highpoint candidate. Glad this one is done! |
