Ascent Trip ReportWhile my family was enjoying the Swedish summer I managed to buy a cheap ticket to Isle of Man to tick Snaefell off the European list. Leaving the Best Western hotel in Douglas shortly before 8am, I started to run north and continued along the coast until I reached Laxey after approximately 10k. I then started the climb over Slieau Ruy and crossed the dangerous road (the TT race circuit) before ascending the steep last bit up the highpoint. After a short rest at the summit, I ran back over the road and then followed the ridge between Clagh Ouyr and North Barrule – probably my best fell-running so far – and then down to Ramsey by the coast (where I took the bus back to Douglas).
