Ascent Trip ReportFirst 4000-footers of the year and in Vermont. I hiked Abraham and Ellen together from Lincoln Gap, which I determined was easier and more convenient than doing them separately. The Long Trail to Mt. Abraham was a nice hike, very rugged, and lots of rock scrambles with views in the upper section. Views from the summit were excellent, but the air was a bit hazy, so the Adirondacks were hard to see.
The whole hike along the "Sugarbush Ridge" was quite nice, but very long. Lincoln Peak was definitely the highlight, as it provided an excellent view to the north that nicely complimented Abraham's view. There were also nice views from the trail along Nancy Hanks Peak. Mt. Ellen was very nice as well, but not nearly as exciting as Abraham's alpine summit.
