Ascent Trip ReportTagged the tip-top summit marker via West Buttress on a clear, windy day. Private expedition with my wife (Priti) and friend (Ilia). Goal was to then climb the Cassin, but did not get the weather window. The only others to go above Denali Pass on June 15 was a team of 3 Nepalese climbers, one of whom (Sanjay Pandit) died on the way down the Autobahn due to "HAPE/HACE" after tagging the summit. This was his first successful summit and second expedition to Denali. Rangers from 17 Camp reached him on the Autobahn, but he was unresponsive by the time help arrived. A sobering and tragic experience. His name is now on the Climbers Memorial at the Talkeetna Cemetary. RIP Sanjay.
