Ascent Trip Report

It's in a moderately secluded portion of the Olympics and has decent views of the larger peaks to the north. However, it would appear that few people venture into the vicinity outside of hunting season. The route description provided by others is good. FS-2351 is reasonably well maintained. FS-2352 is no longer motorable all the way to where George Burgess parked one year prior. The road bed itself is mostly fine, a few channels have been carved by water but nothing that isn't mitigated by a little clearance. The bigger problem is that vegetation is encroaching on the road. About the last quarter mile is overgrown to the point that you'd likely put serious scratches on your vehicle. Beyond on the parking spot, vegetation encroaches the road that I had to lightly push through it on foot.

Anyway, I parked a bit before the saddle due to rockfall. Over 50% of the road is now blocked by a large rock. It is possible to drive around it, but it puts you on a shoulder that then drops quickly. It wasn't worth it since I was already tiring of dodging of branches and ready to park. I traversed the ridge north to south. The bushwhacking isn't trivial, but it's also not terrible. There's maybe 40 vertical feet of bushwhacking up to the ridge, and then I was able to stay on the east side where there is second growth forest that is relatively clear. I dropped down from the south ridge to the road maybe a little bit early, but only ended up bushwhacking around 20 vertical feet and shaved off some distance.
