Ascent Trip ReportHiked the rattlesnake trail up to to saddle and then shot over quickly to Mitton Peak. I'd never been up there before. There is a huge summit cairn and the views are actually very nice. The trail over there is overgrown and essentially nonexistent. Oh well. Then we went up to Box Elder. We started moving towards the Cone, but at the saddle between the two peaks we decided to butt ski down a cirque and check out the remains of an old cabin around brushy springs. We couldn't find the cabin or the spring, so we headed back on the old trail, which is also overgrown and nonexistent. In all we climbed the standard 4000 feet, plus another 500 to get back and forth from Mitton, plus another 1000 to get out of the cirque. So about 5500 feet of climbing on a nice sunny day.
