Ascent Trip Report

We found starting up the valley (southern leg of loop on GPX track near the trailhead)to be a nice way to start the hike. It required a minor amount of bushwacking at the beginning, but was a pretty way to start the trek. Once the stream was flowing enough to be an issue, it was a simple matter to climb out of the drainage and meet the use trail. We took the direct approach down to the car through the mapped area of the previous switchbacks, but this was unpleasant and not only were we glad we didn't ascend that way, we wouldn't go down that way next time. Snow patches on summit block were easily avoided. Overall hike was very fine, with tremendous views. Lots of wildflowers; saw (and heard) an immature golden eagle scouting along the initial ridgeline.
