Ascent Trip ReportStraightforward by SW ridge as per Petter and Greg's route last year, but we continued a little further beyond summit before contouring back to path. Had thought to complete the horseshoe but starting at 1830 this would have meant a late dinner!
First summit of our trip, having flown into Reykjavik mid pm, stopped at an N1 gas station to buy camping gas canisters, pitched tents at Akranes camp site (obvious on R just as you enter town) then did the hill, back to camp site to cook dinner, planning to avoid Icelandic prices this week where we can! Rainy evening but stayed dry on the hill.
Nice wildlife on hill: whimbrel, golden plover, fulmar on cliffs, a lovely colourful godwit. Mountain avens quite common - as on every summit of our trip.
