Ascent Trip Report

Forest Rd 7N23A is gated and locked, but no signs to deny foot (or bike, which would be great for this) traffic. After 1.6mi, where the road bends from W to S, I decided to leave the road and explore what appears to be the original road to the top. It's difficult to see from the road; a couple of plain, tall wooden stakes currently line up the right direction. After pushing past a couple bushes, it opened up to a nice grassy path and was easy to follow. Maybe a dozen or so bush or tree limbs to push by, but more pleasant than walking along a drivable gravel road. Only one short section was steep but okay for walking. I liked it so much, I returned the same way and recommend it. Plus it's shorter than the main road.

I walked around the fence surrounding the FAA VORTAC station. At the eastern corner of the perimeter, there's a register in a pile of rocks 20 or so feet outside the fence.
