Ascent Trip ReportI've found 4 climbing permits are on sale at Purmit web page to deal with MSH climbing permits buy/sale. I purchased them from Patrick. We ended up going by 3 of us. So I've sold 1 extra permit to Rebecca who found my sale on the same "purmit" web page. Susan, Hebe and I met at Gateway TC at 1pm on Sat. We headed to the Marble Mtn Sno Park and we arrived around 3:30. We prepared the backpacking trip and hiked in 2.5 miles relatively flat trail to reach Chocolate Falls. Then, set up tent to sleep overnight. On 6/4(Sun) early morning, we started to climb around 6:30am. We slowly ascent and reached to the summit around 11am which it took 4.5 hours after passing false summit. I was the 5th one to reach the summit on that day. There were 2 groups (2 x 2) who reached to the summit up front. Eventually Susan and Hebe came to the summit successfully. It was beautiful weather. Totally clear skies and we enjoyed watching Rainier at North, Adams at East and Hood at South. We took a lot of picture at the summit and stayed about an hour. Headed down around noon time. We reached to our camp site around 3pm. Wrapped up our tent and went back to the parking lot. Then, we drove back to Portland. A week ago, Susan and I day-hiked to Camp Muir at Rainier. The snow condition at MSH is much better than the one in Rainier. More firm. Summit area, snow were even icy. Nonetheless, microspikes were suffice. No crampons/axe were needed on 6/3-4 weekend. The GPS tracking data shows from Chocolate fall to the summit and back. From Marble Mtn Sno Park TH to Chocolate Falls, there is no way to get lost...so I didn't include it.
