Ascent Trip ReportI lured a friend into this hike telling him it was 4.9 miles each way to the fire tower on Yellow mountain. When my Garmin was almost at 6 miles and we had not gotten to the top I knew I was in trouble! It turns out the trail had been rerouted and now was 6.5 miles each way. We ran into some locals near the summit and they said "Where did you come from?" he showed me where the old trail went down the mountain and we tried to take it back for a while(pretty overgrown) but after a few minutes of bushwhacking we decided to retreat to the longer well marked trail we came up.The push up Shortoff on the way out was tough but I was looking for a workout and I got it.All in all a good hike. |
