Ascent Trip Report

The track shown is a good route with not much brush and avoids going along the talus slopes at the base of a ridge west of Wilson Peak. There is some small scree near the top, but not too bad. The starting point is at a switchback which was reached after a challenging drive up the mining road. The road is not shown on the topo. The starting point is on route 728 at a 5900 ft. spot elevation. UTM there is: 565108E, 4605668N, NAD27, Zone 11. Low range is needed and there are two tight switchbacks I had to back up to get past. I parked at a switchback, but you might as well go further up to another one at a crest. There is room to park here. Follow the road down to the mine digging and leave the road and go up the slopes just before the pit. 6/17 RLC
