Ascent Trip ReportBegan hike at Windy Gap Trail in Crystal Lake. Hiked uphill to the fire road and from there to the peak. Did not continue on the signed Windy Gap Trail. Participants included Maya, Major and Paquita. The road was very rocky in places making it difficult for the dogs. Mt Hawkins and South Mt Hawkins were named for Nellie Hawkins, a popular waitress at the Squirrel Inn from 1901 to about 1907 per John W. Robinson's book Trails of the Angeles.
