Ascent Trip ReportCouple thoughts: - Go in winter. March/April probably good, but May is too late. Forecast was for highs of 78, it was 94 at 3pm and 88 at 7pm. - Start at dawn, starting at 3pm, was crazy town. - Bring lots of water, but there is water along the trail for the first few miles depending on the time of year. - The trail on the topo is different from the trail proper. The trail proper will go to the summit. - No dogs, long pants/sleeves are a must. Ticks everywhere. - Probably want high clearance. 2 river crossings on the base. Don't speed through the base. - It is ALL of seven hours RT. Budget time accordingly. - TH is 1 hour from King City. If coming from Paso Robles, get gas/supplies there. No services beyond that point without detouring to King City (adds 1 hr). - Guy at the Days Inn in King City is an asshole. Don't stay there. |
