Ascent Trip ReportPopular hike, very easy navigation. A local was nice enough to tell us that if you park along the side of the road where everybody parks that you cannot have any part of your tire touching the pavement or sidewalk. Park entirely on the grass or risk a ticket. From there, no issues walking along the country club road past the guard shack to the trail. The scrambling is quite fun and the final step just below the summit was a lot of fun. Could be hazardous if wet. We relaxed on the summit and took in the views of the windward side and the sub-peaks of Olomana. A great half-afternoon stroll!
Rob and I had spent the morning scuba diving over in Honolulu. We did a deep wreck dive first, where we saw 2 white tip reef sharks and a lot of small reef fish. The digital display on the bridge of the ship still worked, so we could see the orange Chinese characters lit up. Then we did Horseshoe Reef and the pipeline. We saw 7 massive green sea turtles that were each about 5 ft long. Then we saw a baby white tip reef shark, a school of barracuda, and the usual assortment of thousands of reef fish. A shallower dive with a lot more bottom time. After lunch, we picked up Jon and headed for this excellent short hike. Pics |
